Get ready to dive into a musical journey like no other! Caroline just dropped a bombshell announcement that’s got fans buzzing with excitement. The band has officially released Caroline 2 Deluxe, a digital treasure trove featuring seven brand-new bonus tracks available today. But that’s not all—Rough Trade Shops has crowned Caroline 2 as one of their Albums of the Year, and to celebrate, the band is treating us to a limited-edition 12” vinyl with five exclusive tracks titled Not Everything Needs to Even Out. And here’s where it gets even more thrilling: Caroline has unveiled their 2026 US tour dates, marking their first major tour in support of Caroline 2.
To sweeten the deal, the band has also shared a live video of their track Two Riders Down, filmed at the Rewire Festival in The Hague back in April 2025. This isn’t just any performance—it’s a raw, unfiltered glimpse into their artistry.
But here’s where it gets controversial: Caroline’s new music isn’t just polished studio magic. They’ve included early, stripped-down iterations of songs from Caroline 2, recorded on phones and portable mics. These tracks, like the acoustic versions of Total Euphoria and U R UR ONLY ACHING, capture the band’s exploratory, unpolished creativity during the songwriting process. The band admits there’s something mysterious and irreplaceable about these recordings—a quality that can’t be replicated in a studio.
One standout is greek2go, a phone recording made in what was once an empty Greek dark kitchen, now their studio. It’s an improvised piece featuring three guitars and vocals in a reverberant room—a track that didn’t make the album but holds a special place in their hearts.
And this is the part most people miss: the band also included a club track from When I Get Home, recorded in the front bathroom of Avalon Cafe. Produced by their friends Daniel S Evans and Jennifer Walton, it’s a quirky, unexpected addition that showcases their versatility.
So, what do you think? Is Caroline’s embrace of raw, unpolished recordings a genius move or a risky departure from studio perfection? Let us know in the comments!
