a sewing-machine stitch in which two threads are locked together at small intervals
A lock stitch is actually a very fundamental stitch on any sewing machine – when the machine makes single stitches, the top and bottom threads “lock” together, keeping them secure in the fabric. If you can sew a straight stitch on your sewing machine then you are probably already sewing a lock stitch.
When– You will use a lock stitch anytime you sew up a quilt, or make an item of clothing. A straight stitch is most often used when sewing woven fabric together. Zigzag or stretch stitches are most often used when sewing knits.
How– On your sewing machine you will adjust the dial or switch to which lock stitch you want to use. Computerized machines have numbers you input that correspond to certain lock stitches.
Tools Needed – A basic sewing machine is all you need to achieve a lock stitch.

However, thread is most often used to mean materials fine and smooth enough for sewing, embroidery, weaving, or making lace or net. Yarn is often used to mean a thicker and softer material, suitable for knitting and crochet. Cords, twines or strings are usually stronger materials, suitable for tying and fastening.
passing through the material and interlocking with a bobbin thread with the threads meeting in the center of the seam. Stitch looks the same on the top as well as the bottom. ISO# 301 (Twin Needle Lockstitch): Same s 301 except that two rows of stitch are formed.

A lock stitch is actually a very fundamental stitch on any sewing machine – when the machine makes single stitches, the top and bottom threads “lock” together, keeping them secure in the fabric. Lock stitch is extensively used for joining fabrics collar, cuff, pocket, sleeve, facing etc. Lockstitch type 301 is the simplest, which is shaped from the needle thread and the bobbin thread (Figure 10.9).
One of the primary benefits is its speed and efficiency. Unlike hand sewing or slower machines, the industrial lockstitch machine can produce hundreds or even thousands of stitches per minute, allowing for fast and consistent production of garments and other textile products.
The handsewn saddle stitch creates leather goods that last much longer. In addition to using thicker thread with hand stitching, each stitch is made up of two strong, independent, stitches. Unlike the lock stitch which will completely unravel, if a thread does break, the saddle stitch will still hold together.
A single needle lockstitch sewing machine forms lock stitches with one needle thread and one bobbin thread. The needle penetrates the fabric from the top and brings the needle thread through the fabric to the bottom to form a stitch. It is the most common mechanical stitch that can be made by a sewing machine.
Stitches are formed by two or m regroups of threads, needle thread & looper thread. There will be at least two types of threads, one is needle thread and other is bobbin thread. The Threads are bound together by interlacing and interloping. The Threads are only bound by interlacing.
A straight stitch is the ideal choice for construction and finishing a woven fabric garment (like the Dreamer Shirt) as it will create a stronger seam.
Chain stitch is formed by two or more sets of threads named needle thread and looper thread.Lock stitches are formed by two sets of thread named needle thread and bobbin thread. Thread Consumption is higher than lock stitch. Thread Consumption is lower than chain stitch.
