Is good night two words?
You can use either goodnight or good night when you're saying farewell to someone at the end of the evening. However, good night, with two separate words, is considered the more correct way to spell this word in formal writing.

It's a matter of usage. Good Night began as two separate words and then got merged into one word. Good Morning has remained two words but there is no saying whether it will continue to remain two words in the future. If sufficient authors begin writing it as Goodmorning it just might become one word.
What is the difference between goodnight and good evening?
Well, “good night" is said when you are leaving to say goodbye. It can also be said when you to go to your bedroom or to go to sleep. “Good evening" can be an expression used as a greeting or it can be said when you are leaving as well.

If you're not on a chat with her and you receive a goodnight message from her then it probably is a good sign for you because she either wants you to reply her with 'sleeping so early? ' and then start chatting or she just thinks about you and cares for you.

Should I not text him goodnight?
Some people might want to receive both good morning and good night texts even on days they see each other, and others might find all the texting overbearing. The safest bet is to do what feels right to you while considering what your partner would like to receive, too.
For example, isn't, didn't, I'm, I'll are counted as two words (replacing is not, did not, I am, I will). Where the contraction replaces one word (e.g. can't for cannot), it is counted as one word.
