20 Baby Shower Games That Are Actually Fun (And Free Printables for You!) (2024)

I’ve attended a lot of baby showers, including my own, where fellow party guests and I have played all sorts of baby shower games. I’ve guessed the baby’s weight and arrival date, I’ve ooh’d and aah’d over the cute baby items from my friend or family member’s registry (tiny clothes really are so cute), and I’ve even smelled diapers full of melted candy bars to guess their contents.

At the most recent baby shower I attended, we had to attempt a baby-themed word scramble and word search. Through the process, some fellow moms sitting at the table with me discussed how we could make a more modern version. We’d remove outdated words like “Baby Powder” and add terms like “Paid Parental Leave” and “Pumping at Work.”

So, our team created a word scramble for the modern mom, along with a few other free printable games for your next baby shower. Plus, we’ve rounded up a few other baby shower games and activities that don’t require you to sniff any faux doody-filled diapers. None of us need any more of those—fake or not.

All of these games are low-effort to make and easy to facilitate. Trust us, your baby shower guests will thank you. Keep scrolling for 20 of the best baby shower games and printables!

2. Name That Song With Baby in the Title

Test your friends’ musical knowledge with this low-key mad-lib style game that lets guests complete the title of a song with the word baby in it. Also serves as solid baby shower playlist inspo, too!

3. Children’s Book Emoji Pictionary

Let’s face it, emojis bring a smile to everyone’s face. This fun game lets guests have fun on their own time by “reading” the emojis to discover the title of popular children’s books—it can get really creative, and funny!

4.

The baby wishes game is a classic for a reason—parents leave with a sweet memory they can look back on for years. It’s also keeps guests engaged with minimal effort, and they often come up with some great answers. Consider printing on these on cardstock for a longer-lasting keepsake.

5. Guess the Celebrity Baby

This is easy to execute with a quick Google search and a printer. The photos could be displayed as part of the baby shower decor or simply collaged to create your own printable worksheet. Number each image and let the guests loose to have fun guessing. Not into the DIY? Purchase a digital download ‘Guess the Celebrity Baby’ game from the Etsy links below!

6. Baby Shower Scattergories

This question and answer game is a fun race against a timer—with a twist! When the host says “Go!” baby shower guests will answer prompts including “popular baby name,” “baby brand name,” “pregnancy complaint,” and “children’s TV show” but the answers must start with the first and last letters of the mama-to-be’s name.

7. Would She Rather

How well do you know the mom-to-be at the baby shower you’re attending? This game will test just that by asking guests to check the choice they think the expectant mama would choose. For example, would she rather sleep in late or get up early? How about watch a horror film or a click flick? The guest with the most correct answers wins!

8. Mommy or Daddy Guess Who

A great option for a co-ed couples baby shower, this “Mommy or Daddy Guess Who” game is fun for everyone. Guests can earn one point for every correct answer to questions like “who will change more diapers?”, “who will spoil the baby most?”, and “who will read to the baby more?” So cute!

9. Name a Baby Item

Another race against the clock, but this game requires guests to think of a baby item that begins with each letter of the alphabet. Generally, the winner will be whomever has the most similar answers as the mom to be (who fills the card out beforehand). Other times, people will play until one person gets the entire card completed.

10. How Old Were the Parents-to-Be

This fun game will incorporate photos of mom and dad throughout the years, which can be extra special for friends and family to look back on. Either print out photos, have them printed right on the page, or have them on a slideshow and have guests guess the age of the parents in each photograph.

11. Baby Family Feud

Just like your favorite game show! This game will have guests try to guess the most popular answers to baby-related questions. Whomever gets the most correct answers wins a prize!

12. The Price Is Right

Speaking of game shows, what about The Price Is Right? Have attendees guess the price of the baby essentials listed and see who can get the closest to correct.

13. Baby Trivia

Test attendees’ knowledge of babies with this fun trivia game. With questions like “When does a baby get its finger prints?”, even seasoned moms may be stumped on some questions. And don’t worry, they come with an answer key included!

14. Create an ABC Book for Baby

One of our favorite alternative activities for a baby shower is having guests put together an ABC book for the baby. Each guest can design a page for their assigned letter of the alphabet. The hosts can then collect and bind the finished pages in a special book for baby!

15. Make a Piece of Nursery Wall Art

Similarly, guests can create a memorable keepsake wall art piece for the baby’s nursery. This art project could take many forms (or have many themes!) but one example is having each guest stamp their thumbprint in a pattern on canvas or cardstock to like a bouquet of balloons. Just make sure to have a pack of baby wipes nearby for guests to clean their thumbs after craft time is complete.

16. Paint Onesies or Bibs

With all of the inevitable outfit changes the new baby will have, parents can never have too many onesies and clean bibs on hand. This activity can be super simple and fun, just purchase a pack of plain white onesies and/or bibs and have some fabric markers or paint set out for use. If you’re willing to take things up a notch, setting up a tie-dye station for onesies or bibs is a fun activity, too!

17. Pacifier Hunt

The rules are simple and the game is reminiscent of a nostalgic Easter egg hunt! Hide pacifiers throughout the party room and have guests search for as many as they can find. Whomever comes out with the most wins a prize.

18. Words of Wisdom Cards

While more of an activity than an actual game, the parents-to-be are sure to appreciate reading advice and words of encouragement from those closest to them. Have cards available for guests to write on, pens, and a jar to put them in.

19. Guess How Many Items in the Jar

Another easy, low-effort game that still gets the competitive juices flowing is having a simple guessing game. Fill a jar with small items (such as one type of candy, like Hershey Kisses) and have guests write down their guess of how many of that item are in the jar. Whomever guesses the closest to the answer wins a prize! The best part about this game is that it can be customized to nearly any theme.

20. Baby Predictions

Keep the fun going even after the day ends by having guests make predictions about the newborn baby. They’ll guess things like date of birth, height, weight, and more! Go all out and have a special prize on hand for when the time comes that can be mailed to the recipient, or simply let the winner have bragging rights for years to come.
